MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh have shared many famous partnerships together. These two are the most experienced players in the current squad. Their combo has been one of the best and most consistent middle order pairs in world cricket. Both of them played an integral part in India‘s triumphs in 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup. This duo has scored more than 3000 runs batting together so naturally, they have great bonding.
Yuvraj Singh’s Instagram post.
As Dhoni turns 36 today, Yuvraj took to Instagram to congratulate his mate on completing the another year of his life. Yuvi posted a picture of him with the birthday boy and wrote: “Many happy returns of the day to Mr. Helicopter @mahi7781 have a great day buddy, the cake awaits you #happybirthday #cakesmash .”
Yuvraj and Dhoni’s relationship went through a bad phase when the former was dropped from the Indian team and his father publicly criticised the then skipper for his son’s expulsion from the team. Yuvraj to his credit tried his best to downplay the controversy and said that his dad was emotional about him and his statements didn’t mean much.
This Instagram post is heartwarming to see because it proves that Yuvraj and Dhoni are on good terms again.
The future
Yuvi was the Player of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup and had the world at his feet. After the World Cup, he was diagnosed with cancer and sadly he hasn’t been the same player since then. He has been in and out of the team since then and is going through a tough run in recent times. In the ongoing series, Yuvraj has only scored 57 runs in 3 innings and looks sure to lose his place in the next series.
On the other hand, MS continues to show his importance with the bat, coming up with important contributions at the critical stages. He scored 157 runs and ended up as the 5th highest scorer in the series.
His batting has been under scrutiny from the critics in recent times, despite this, his importance behind the stumps can’t be ignored. Even at the age of 36 MS Dhoni is one of the first names on the teamsheet and this isn’t going to change anytime soon.
