Watch: Yuvraj Singh smacks 6 sixes in an over against Stuart Broad: September 19, 2007: 8 years ago, we witnessed why Yuvraj Singh is rated one of the best modern day limited overs batsmen to originate from India. In the 18th over against England in a must win super 8 match against England, India were looking to post about a challenging 200.
English all-rounder Andrew Flintoff made a grave mistake of poking at an in-form Yuvraj. And what the spectators at Durban witnessed was something no one present there would forget all their lives.
With a packed crowd supporting the Indian team, Stuart Broad became a victim to Yuvraj’s wrath. Yuvi, pumped up from the confrontation against Flintoff, was not in a forgiving mood. And that’s when it started raining sixes at Kingsmead in Durban. With every six, the crowd were anticipating something which had never happened in T20 cricket, and by the end of that over Yuvraj had fulfilled their wishes.
Against a clueless Stuart Broad, who just couldn’t hold his nerve in such a situation, Yuvraj Singh went on for the full monty, as Ravi Shastri aptly summarized in the commentary. And not to forget, he got to his half-century in just 12 balls, a “fastest fifty” record which will stay in his name for a long time.
