Veteran cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been out of the Indian team for quite some time and given his current form, his chances of making a comeback look bleak if not over. This is in a particular reference to his innings of 17 off 33 against Jharkhand on Tuesday in the Super League match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

With Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 auction around the corner, this is not going to help the ace left-hander considering various Indian old warhorses’ performances in the ongoing tournament are being watched closely. They include not only Yuvraj but also Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh, none of whom have been retained by their respective franchises.

All the three players will be seen in action as 10 teams in two groups clash each other in the Super League stage of the T20 tournament beginning on Sunday.

While Raina who will be returning to Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL season has also managed to find his original form after his brilliant knock of 126 off 59 against Bengal, Gambhir, Yuvraj and Harbhajan, who will go under the hammer in the IPL 2018 auction on 27-28 January, will look to make it count in the remainder of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

In the eight innings of the eight matches, Yuvi has scored only 204 runs at an average of 34.00 and strike rate of 99.51. His best in all the innings has been a solitary 50 which came against Delhi in Punjab’s first game of the tournament.

As usual, Twitter was quick to come up with criticism and astonishment regarding Yuvraj’s innings against Jharkhand today. Eventually, Punjab lost the match by 4 wickets and a lot of blame was pushed on to Yuvraj for playing the bizarre slow innings. The performance was considered below par especially because the pitch wasn’t difficult to bat on.
