Out of favor Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh tweeted a video on Sunday, spreading awareness about a pollution-free Diwali. He urged his fans not to burst crackers this Diwali. He also encouraged all to light lamps since it is a festival of lights. But to his surprise, Yuvi received a few volleys of words from the Twitter users. Yuvraj must not have thought about the backlash.

A few of the people accused him of being anti-Hindu while some others cited the events of animal slaughtering. Some even went on to advice him to stop using air-condition for comfort and start using plastic bats in order to save trees. Apart from these, there were certain people who would have actually made Yuvraj think by asking him about the effects on the firecracker industry.

Yuvraj’s message:

“Hello, everyone! A sincere request from my side to all of you. Please do not burn crackers this Diwali. Our country’s situation last year during Diwali was horrible, the air we were breathing was polluted and I couldn’t get out of my house due to all this chaos caused by the crackers. It’s very unhealthy and unnatural for our kids, friends, parents and everyone dear to us.” he said.

“Let us remember that it’s our country and it’s our duty to make it a better place to live. If we don’t take responsibility, no body else will do that. Lot’s of love to all my fans and wishing you all a very happy Diwali.” he added

The left-handed batsman is currently out of the team and will be playing for Punjab in the Ranji trophy. Yuvraj is the vice-captain of Punjab, and he will look to take Punjab to the knock-out games and make a bid for himself to return to the national side. He missed out on the Ranji opener as he had a fitness test at the NCA in Bangalore.
