It’s always more difficult for a 35-year-old to make a comeback in the national team than making his debut. With due regards to every other legend of the game who has made terrific comebacks in their cricketing careers, Yuvraj Singh’s stellar show in the 2nd ODI against England is bound to go down in the history of the game as arguably the most inspirational comebacks by any sportsperson. For someone who has been a cancer survivor, the century meant a lot to Yuvraj as he had to wait 6 long years to achieve this feat in international cricket again.

Following a stupendous century, Yuvraj looked up at the heavens and acknowledged the crowd. It was an emotional moment for the southpaw and it was quite evident from his reaction. With teary eyes, Yuvraj pumped his chest in delight and made a signal towards the dressing room that he still had a lot to offer to the national team. Virat Kohli was overjoyed to see Yuvraj bat the way he did as he was the man behind Yuvraj’s inclusion in the squad.

Yuvraj who was instrumental in India winning the 2011 World Cup at home was battling cancer during the tournament itself. But it did not stop him from taking India to their first World Cup title in 28 years.

Not only did he play some terrific innings with the bat, he was also the trump card for Dhoni with the ball and finished the tournament with 15 scalps to his name. Courtesy his brilliance with both bat and the ball Yuvi bagged the prestigious Player of the tournament award. Following the World Cup success, Yuvraj overcame the “life threatening” disease and launched YouWeCan, a foundation aiming to aid cancer patients.

All the patients were overjoyed to have Yuvraj with them and the southpaw encouraged them in their bid to recover from this fatal disease.
