Yuvraj Singh wants Akshay Kumar to star in his biopic
Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is in the news for the last couple of weeks. The stylish left-handed batsman got married to Bollywood actress Hazel Keech recently. Yuvraj has been one of the best Indian players of the modern era. His heroics were influential in helping India lift the major ICC titles. He was the star performer in ICC World T20 in 2007 and also in the ICC World Cup 2011.
Those two tournaments remain to be the highlights of his illustrious careers. There were other instances when he broke the news. Hitting six sixes in an over off the bowling of Stuart Broad Durban is still etched in the memory of every cricket fan. While there have been ups in his life, the downs have come his way too.
The low moments included the ones on the field and off the field. Struggling with form for a brief while saw him fight for his slot in the team. Another major low point in his life was when he was diagnosed with cancer soon after he helped India win the ICC World Cup 2011.
When you look at his life, it is nothing short of a beautifully narrated script. No wonder why people have been keen on having a biopic made on Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj had come up with his autobiography when he found himself totally cured from cancer. The book was titled ‘The Test of My Life: From Cricket to Cancer and Back’. It summed up his life, believes Yuvraj Singh.
Now, at a recent chat with his good friend Neha Dhupia, Yuvi revealed the names of actors who he feels can play his role if a biopic is ever made on him. He is not very keen on having a biopic made since he finds it very personal. Speaking about a biopic prospect, he quoted, “Biopic is very personal. I am not sure if I would like to go for it…someday when I decide to hang my boots and sit on it, I may(think about it)…not at the moment.”
When asked who he would like to see him in the lead, Yuvraj said Akshay Kumar should be the one. The reason that he gave was the Punjabi connection that both the players share. “Well I don’t know who relates to me the best but as a Punjabi boy I think Akshay fits in that category,” said Yuvraj. Among other actors, he felt that Aditya Roy Kapoor could also fit the bill.
