Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan build India-Afghanistan combined XI during their Instagram live
To fill in the final two pieces of the puzzle, Rashid and Chahal chose the pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.
Two ace spinners in international cricket, Yuzvendra Chahal and Rashid Khan were involved in an Instagram live session on Tuesday where the pair discussed over several topics. During the interaction, both the spinners discussed their life amid the lockdown and their daily routine during the pandemic.
During their discussion, Rashid and Chahal also followed the trend and picked a combined XI featuring India and Afghanistan players. While the Indian players dominated the side, it featured a few Afghan stars as well.
To flag off their side, Chahal and Rashid went with the successful opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Ever since opening the innings for India in the 2013 Champions Trophy, the Rohit-Dhawan duo has delivered consistently with the white ball. The No.3 spot wasn’t a tough choice for Rashid and Chahal as they slotted current India skipper Virat Kohli at the position.
The No.4 spot went to Afghanistan’s Rahmat Shah, who has donned the national jersey in 73 ODIs and has 16 half-centuries and four tons under his belt. Following Rahmat, the duo went with KL Rahul, who has been in exemplary form since the past few months. On the back of his wicketkeeping skills and batting forte, KL Rahul has almost cemented his position in the limited-overs squad.
Rashid and Chahal went with MS Dhoni at No.6 spot
After KL Rahul, Chahal and Rashid went with Indian veteran MS Dhoni at No.6. For the all-rounder’s role, they went with either Hardik Pandya or Mohammad Nabi, depending on the conditions in which they’re playing.
Talking about the bowling force, Rashid included himself in the spin department of the squad along with Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Both the Afghanistan spinners were set to shine in the IPL 2020 before the tournament got postponed in the wake of COVID-19 debacle.
While Rashid has been a vital part of Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, Mujeeb had also grabbed eyeballs in his debut season with Kings XI Punjab. Mujeeb had scalped 14 wickets in 11 matches in 2018 edition.
To fill in the final two pieces of the puzzle, Rashid and Chahal chose the pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. Both the speedsters have the potential to wreck the opponent’s batting force when they are on song.
