Yuzvendra Chahal donates INR 2 lakh to a COVID patient in Bangalore

With India finding itself amid a deadly second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, social media has proven to be a brilliant tool for people to seek out help. Over the last couple of months, thousands of social media users have taken the initiative of collating information, making databases, and sharing leads and raising fundraisers to assist the ones in need.

In one of such fundraisers by crowdfunding platform Ketto, Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal came forward and donated a sum of INR 2 lakh to help a patient’s Covid fight. Notably, Chahal had recently donated a sum of INR 95,000 in an initiative raised on the same platform by Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his actress wife Anushka Sharma, which surpassed its target and raised a sum over INR 11 Crore.

Informing the same, Kohli wrote on Friday wrote on Twitter “Words fall short to express how overwhelmed we feel to have exceeded our target not once, but twice, thanks to each one of you. To everyone who has donated, shared, & helped in any way, I want to say a big thank you. We are #InThisTogether & we will overcome this together.”

Chahal donates INR 2 lakh

The current fundraiser aimed for a collection of INR 4 lakh, half of which came from Chahal’s donations made in an instalment of INR 1 lakh each.

“We are raising funds for my friend’s family, Amudha who is suffering from Corona Virus and is undergoing treatment at an ICU with ventilator support ST JOHNS MEDICAL COLLEGE HOSPITAL (Bangalore).

The family has done all it can to collect the total amount required for the treatment but Rs.400000 more is required to pay for all the medical expenses. As the amount required is huge, we request you to kindly contribute towards the treatment and help during this time of need. Each contribution is important!

Apart from this, several cricketer’s have come forward and assisted India’s fight against the second wave. Currently, the nation is recording over 3,50,000 cases each day with a daily death toll ranging between three to four thousand.
