After an emphatic victory in the first one-day international at Kingsmead, Durban, India’s limited overs specialist Kedar Jadhav took to Twitter to congratulate his teammates, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Jadhav expressed his happiness by writing a message that indicated that he loves rolling his arm over in the middle overs and he enjoys bowling. Kedar Jadhav started bowling in 2016 when Mahendra Singh Dhoni brought him into the attack against New Zealand to surprise Kane Williamson.
Jadhav responded by picking up Williamson’s wicket. The move was praised by one and all and Jadhav soon became a bowling superstar. The 32-year-old has a few variations in his action, batsmen are often surprised while facing him because of the variations in height. Jadhav uses different angles to bowl, at times he goes round-arm like Lasith Malinga. According to commentator Sunil Gavaskar, Kedar Jadhav is Malinga’s version 2.0.
In the first one-day international at Durban, Proteas skipper Faf Du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. South Africa was cruising at 83 for 1 before the spinners were introduced into the attack. Hardik Pandya conceded 28 runs in his first three overs which prompted skipper Kohli to go to Kedar Jadhav since India was playing only five bowlers including Hardik Pandya. The Indian bowlers reduced the Proteas to 269 despite an impressive century from Proteas Captain Faf Du Plessis.
Roll your arm under
The spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav bowled tremendously in the middle overs, Chahal took 2 wickets conceding 45 runs in 10 overs whereas his partner Kuldeep took 3 wickets for 34 in his spell. Kedar Jadhav rolled his arm over for three overs. Jadhav conceded 19 runs in three overs before Pandya was brought back into the attack.
Chasing a target of 270, the Indian openers started aggressively before Rohit Sharma played an ordinary shot to give his wicket away. Shikhar Dhawan fell soon after because of a communication error between him and skipper Kohli. Virat Kohli alongside Ajinkya Rahane ensured that India gets to the target with safety. Virat Kohli was awarded the man of the match for his match-winning 112.
In his tweet, Jadhav wrote “Rolled my arm over in our win against South Africa yesterday! I love bowling in the middle overs. Great spells from @yuzi_chahal & @imkuldeep18! And excellent knocks from @imVkohli and @ajinkyarahane88 to go 1-0 up.. Good start to the series! #SAvIND” #TeamIndia #BleedBlue”. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal came up with a hilarious reply Rolled your arm under not over Kedar bhaiyaaaa let’s keep this momentum going #BleedBlue #SAvsIndia”
