Haryana bowler Yuzvendra Chahal will be a part of the India A squad that will travel to South Africa next month. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the 26-year-old revealed that his confidence was shattered when Royal Challengers Bangalore finished rock bottom of the table in the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League.
He also mentioned that skipper Virat Kohli played a huge role in reviving his confidence at that time. He also thanked Daniel Vettori, the coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, for supporting him.
“The streak of regular losses in the competition did rankle the RCB team. My confidence as a bowler was shaken too mid-way. Thereafter, Virat paaji and coach Daniel Vettori intervened and infused confidence in me. It really got me going again,” said Yuzvendra Chahal.
On India A’s tour of South Africa:
Chahal was a success story for the Indian team last year and justified the chance that was given to him in three ODI’S and six T20s. His aggressive bowling impressed everyone but quite unfortunately for the bowler, he was still not included in India’s Champions Trophy campaign. The bowler also missed out on India’s tour of West Indies. However, Chahal has decided to let bygones be bygones and is looking forward to India A’s South Africa tour.
“The Champions Trophy and West Indies tour are over now, so there is no point in discussing them. There are certain things which are not in anyone’s control. My job is to perform and give my best. I am training hard ahead of the India ‘A’ tour to South Africa. I would aim to play to my potential and do well for the team,” he added.
Chahal has picked up six wickets in his last four ODI’S for the nation with less than 4 runs an over. The bowler definitely deserves a chance ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin who has been a massive flop in recent times.
