His last two outings were not up to the mark but yet chess player-turned-cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal remains a man who enjoys his cricket. The 28-year-old wrist spinner started off his maiden World Cup brilliantly with a four-wicket haul against South Africa in Southampton on June 5 and he backed it up with a 2 for 62 against Australia at the Oval. However, Chahal’s last two games against England and Bangladesh saw him disappointing with the ball by conceding 138 runs in all and picking just one wicket.

Chahal was replaced by Ravindra Jadeja in the inconsequential game against Sri Lanka at Headingley on Saturday. But despite not getting a game, India’s most successful spinner in this World Cup with 11 scalps so far, did not waste time by not enjoying. As he carried out the duty of reaching drinks to his teammates on the field, Chahal was also seen relaxing in between in cool posture on the sidelines with the drinks bottle in front of him.

The Twitterati too wasted no time to take a plunge over Chahal. The 28-year-old spinner has claimed 11 scalps in eight matches in this World Cup even though his much-celebrated partnership with Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav hasn’t delivered on expected lines.

Which spinning combination will India play in the semi-final?

India will next play New Zealand in the first semi-final of the tournament at Old Trafford on Tuesday and it will be interesting to see if the team management decides to bring back Chahal into the XI or continue with Jadeja. Another option could be to play Chahal in place of Kuldeep who hasn’t picked enough wickets in this tournament. India went for three seamers in the game against Bangladesh.

India finished at the top of the points table after Australia lost their final league match to South Africa at Old Trafford by 10 runs. Rohit Sharma slammed his fifth century of the tournament and the third on the trot to help India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. KL Rahul also scored a hundred as the third Indian batsman in the tournament.

Here are some of the hilarious reactions that came up on Twitter:
