Zimbabwe will host Ireland in a three-match T20I series followed by the same number of ODI matches scheduled to be played from January 12, 2023. All of the six matches are to be played at the Harare Sports Club.
The series between the two sides marks their first international assignment since the T20 World Cup 2022 held Down Under. The ODIs in the Zimbabwe vs Ireland Schedule will not form a part of the World Cup Super League. At present, the African nation is out of the running to qualify directly for the 2023 ODI World Cup while Ireland still have some chances of making the eighth and final automatic-qualification slot.
The Irish side last contested with Zimbabwe in the Super 12 stage of the recently concluded marquee event. Zimbabwe emerged victorious in the clash, winning the contest by 31 runs, all thanks to star all-rounder Sikandar Raza’s brilliant knock of 82 runs from 48 balls. Speaking about their head-to-head records, both sides have played nine times in the T20I format with Ireland having the edge with five wins and losing four times. Whereas in the 50-over format, both teams have contested in 16 matches, winning seven each and one yielding no result and the other ending as draw going by the Zimbabwe vs Ireland Stats.
Both sides will be gearing up for the multi format white-ball series in the African land and will look to be dominant in their performances. Despite the ODI series not forming a part of the World Cup Super League, as both sides have won seven matches each in the format, the agenda will be to get the better of the rival side. Undoubtedly, the series will be an exciting one for the fans of the two cricketing nations when they lock horns early on in January.
