Zimbabwe’s upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh has undergone a minor change. The series was scheduled to get underway on Friday, July 23 and was supposed to end on Tuesday, July 27. However, the games are now set to take place on July 22, 23 and 25.
Zimbabwe Cricket put forth the development on Monday, July 19. The two teams are currently taking part in a three-match ODI series and also played a one-off Test. All the matches on the tour are taking place at the Harare Sports Club.
As per a statement from ZC, reported by Cricbuzz, the changes were brought forth to “address the scheduling and logistical challenges that the tour’s broadcast production company was facing.”
Bangladesh dominating
Bangladesh have clearly been the dominating team on the tour. The team won the only Test by 220 runs to kick-start their campaign on a winning note. Mahmudullah Riyad, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shadman Islam scored centuries to script victory for the visitors. Taskin Ahmed also got his highest Test individual score in the first innings.
Taskin also picked four wickets in the second innings. The two spinners- Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz- were amongst the wickets as well. The game also turned out to be Mahmudullah’s last in the format after he announced his retirement amidst the match itself. On the final day’s play, he also got a ‘Guard of Honour’ from his mates.
As far as the ODI series is concerned, the Tigers have already won the series 2-0 with one game left to be played on Tuesday, July 20 in Harare. Shakib picked up a fifer in the first game and followed it up with an unbeaten 96 in the second where he also got two wickets. Liton Das also scored a century in the first ODI that Bangladesh won by 155 runs.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand, have had their travails. Despite getting their opponents on the mat plenty of times, they couldn’t hold on to their domination. The home team will be keen to make amends in the T20I series. For the time being, they will be aiming to get 10 ODI Super League points in the final ODI of the series.
