Zonal camp players and support staff not given timely allowances as promised
Each individual is supposed to get Rs 1500 as daily allowance but they claim they haven’t got what they were promised
All the players, coaches and support staff who are at Bangalore’s National Cricket Academy(NCA) for the ongoing zonal cricket camp for under-16 cricketers, are yet to receive their daily allowances— Rs 1500. The annual zonal camps are conducted by National Cricket Academy and this year, it is being run from May 22 to June 16. Each center has 25 players, and specific coaches for fast bowling, spin, batting, fielding and wicketkeeping.
Each individual is supposed to get Rs 1500 as daily allowance but they claim they haven’t got what they were promised. When they asked the authorities about it, they were told that the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) are yet to give their approval, which is not factually correct, since the CoA doesn’t even know the predicament of the coaches and players in these camps.
“We were told that money will be deposited and we will have to distribute to the players. This was told on the day one of the camp but till date, no money has been deposited. Every day one or other, players ask us and we keep telling them ke aa jayega, (it will come),” one of the coaches told the Indian Express on condition of anonymity.
Payment may get cleared by next week
The Indian Express was also informed that other coaches were clueless on why the payments were being delayed but a few said the payment would be cleared by next week. Maybe the delay is due to the BCCI officials being busy in England to watch Champions Trophy.
The BCCI distributes cash cards to the coaches before the camp starts. The coaches were told that BCCI would deposit money, and Rs 50,000 can be withdrawn from these cards. Then the coaches have to distribute money among players. But no money has been deposited. And the wait continues.
