India star batter Shubman Gill gave a perfect reply to Australia skipper Pat Cummins on the short ball tactics. The India batter gave a strong reply to the Aussie captain ahead of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which is set to be played at the Gabba, in Brisbane.
There is always a lot of drama in an India-Australia series, and the similar was evident in the press conference ahead of the upcoming Gabba clash. Aussie skipper Pat Cummins had mentioned that the short ball tactics had worked in getting the better of the Indian batters. However, the young batter replied, mentioning that only one of India's batting core got out to the short ball in the Adelaide Test.
"(On Australia's short-ball success against India) I don't think they were successful with the implementation of the short-ball tactics (against us). Apart from the tail-enders, only one batter has fallen prey to the short ball. So I am not sure what success he (Cummins) is talking about," Gill said during the presser on Friday, December 13.

High-stakes BGT is 1-all into Brisbane Test
The last time the two sides faced each other at this venue was in 2021 and the world witnessed a classic thriller where an Indian team affected by injuries shocked the Aussies and retained the BGT under Ajinkya Rahane's captaincy. This was one of the moments that will never be forgotten by Indian cricket fans when they breached the Gabba fortress, orchestrated by Rishabh Pant's match-winning unbeaten 89 on the final day of the game.
