Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will head to Ahmedabad on Friday (May 10) for a crucial match against home team Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 59 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. A win would take the five-time champions to the doorstep of playoff qualification, while a defeat for GT would mean the 2022 champions are officially out of the tournament.

CSK are currently in the fourth position in the points table with 12 points after winning six out of 11 games. On the other hand, the Titans are at the bottom of the table with four losses and a poor net run rate of -1.320. Notably, when the two teams met earlier this season, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Co. were on the winning side.

CSK are favourites on all terms to win the upcoming match but GT are not going to lose their grip to knock themselves out of the competition. An exciting battle awaits cricket fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium and some intense key player battles as well.

Here are the top three player battles to watch out for ahead of GT vs CSK in IPL 2024, Match 59:

3. Shivam Dube vs Rashid Khan

Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan has not been at his best this season. He has gone wicket-less in his last three outings for GT. Despite this, Rashid remains one of their key players in the team. The right-arm spinner will have a tough fight against CSK's middle-order batter Shivam Dube.

Dube has scored 350 runs in the ongoing season at a staggering strike rate of 170.73. However, in the last few matches, the southpaw has not been able to get going. Rashid has taken the wicket of Dube twice in the IPL, one of which was earlier this season. Meanwhile, the Indian cricketer has a strike rate of 165.57 in this match-up, which promises a tough fight.

2. Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Joshua Little

Joshua Little played in his only previous outing this season and he made GT regret making him sit out for the initial 10 matches. The Irish pacer claimed four wickets in no time to put Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in trouble when they were going comfortably in the chase. Although GT lost the game, Little managed to capture the attention.

He will be operating with the new ball against CSK and Ruturaj Gaikwad seems like will be in trouble. The CSK skipper has been troubled by the left-arm pacers in the ongoing series being dismissed five times after striking at 146.39. It will be interesting to see how Gaikwad will deal with the threat this time.

1. David Miller vs Ravindra Jadeja

Both David Miller and Ravindra Jadeja have been doing well for their respective franchises in different roles in the middle overs. Jadeja will be given the responsibility to get rid of the Proteas big-hitter in the upcoming match. Notably, the CSK all-rounder is coming on the back of a three-wicket haul against Punjab Kings.

Miller and Jadeja faced off in 67 balls in the IPL and going by the stats, the former came out on top in the battle. The GT left-hander smashed the CSK left-arm spinner for 111 runs at a strike rate of 165.67. However, Jadeja has dismissed his opponent twice in 11 meetings and will aim to add one more to the list.
