T20 World Cup 2024 Schedule
The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 is set to be co-hosted by the West Indies and USA in June. Notably, the West Indies exclusively hosted the tournament back in 2010.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the fixtures of the ninth edition of the marquee event on Friday, January 5, 2024. The tournament will begin on June 1 and the summit clash will be held on June 29. The opening encounter is scheduled to be held in Dallas as the USA lock horns with Canada on Saturday, June 1.
The T20 World Cup 2024 Teams are: India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, USA, England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman, West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Netherlands.
The high-voltage India versus Pakistan clash will take place in New York on Sunday, June 9. They have been paired together in Group A alongside Ireland, Canada, and the USA. Meanwhile, two other traditional rivals, England and Australia, are placed in Group B with the likes of Namibia, Scotland, and Oman.
The two-time champions West Indies are placed in Group C with New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. On the other hand, Group D consists of South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Netherlands. So far, only six teams have won the T20 World Cup. It would be interesting to see if a new team makes an entry into the T20 World Cup Winners List.
The top two teams from the aforementioned four groups will move to a Super Eight phase. There will be two groups of four teams each in the Super Eight phase. The top two from each group will progress to the semifinals.
The two semifinals are going to be held in Guyana (June 26) and Trinidad (June 27), respectively. The final will take place in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.
