'1 of the 600' - KL Rahul trolls himself while congratulating James Anderson; later deletes tweet
Anderson dismissed Azhar Ali to beome the first pacer to get 600 Test wickets.
England’s James Anderson became the first paceman and fourth bowler to achieve the remarkable feat of 600 wickets in the longest format of the gentleman’s game. Anderson reached this landmark during the final and third match of the three-match Test series against Pakistan when he dismissed the opposition captain Azhar Ali who had performed exceptionally well with the bat in the Southampton Test.
It was during the 14th ball of Tuesday’s fifth day that Anderson produced a rising delivery that moved away from right-hander Azhar, playing on 31, and took the shoulder of the bat. England captain Joe Root held on to a head-high catch at first slip. The Brits speedster had crumbled Pakistan’s batting line-up in the first innings as he took a five-wicket haul, and he returned in their second innings to pick Abid Ali and Azhar after the visitors were made to follow on.
In addition, the 38-year-old is only behind three retired spinners in terms of wickets taken in Test cricket namely Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan (800), Australia’s Shane Warne (708) and India’s Anil Kumble (619). Also he became the second quickest to reach the milestone, in terms of balls taken, after Muralitharan.
A plethora of cricketers from all over the world including the likes of Wasim Akram, Virat Kohli, Herschelle Gibbs, Irfan Pathan, Anil Kumble, Jasprit Bumrah and many others had extended their warm wishes to the speedster on achieving this incredible milestone.
The new addition to this list is India’s swashbuckling batsman KL Rahul who took to his official Twitter handle to congratulate the England cricketer. However, this whole episode turned hilarious when the batsman by mistake shared a picture trolling himself. What happened was that KL posted where Anderson is bowling while he (KL) is standing on the non-striker end. The picture was of the India tour of England in 2018 where the hosts had outshined the visitors by 4-1.
Rahul had captioned the tweet as “1 of the 600. Congratulations on the amazing feat @jimmy9”
However, Rahul had deleted the tweet a few minutes later but it was of use as many had already seen the tweet and it had soon gotten viral on the social networking sites. Then, the 28-year-old had again shared a picture of James Anderson for congratulating him on his remarkable success.
