10 Cricketers and their alternative careers: Cricket is a sport where one needs a lot of determination as well as luck to make it big. We have witnessed a lot of stars showcase their talent in the sport on the international platform. But we must not forget that there is life beyond cricket for these stars and a multitude of opportunities to make it big elsewhere. So the real question is, If not cricket, what could they have become successful in? Lets not forget that a lot of these stars are multitalented and have the great potential in making it big in other industries as well. Here is a list of Cricketers who can be successful in their alternative careers. 1. Sanath Jayasuriya – 90s villain: He is known as one of the best One Day International players of all time and holds the record for second most 150+ scores but had he decided not to play cricket for Sri Lanka he would’ve made a killer 90’s villain. He’s got the built and the looks of a bad boy and I’m pretty sure he can manage giving a creepy smile. Chris Gayle – Bouncer: Chris Gayle is a world class opening batsman and an all-rounder in all senses and I can’t think of what he could do besides hitting sixes. Oh wait, hitting sixes requires a lot of strength and we all know that Gayle has that. He’s 6’4’’, which means that he’s a foot taller than me! Wonder how his street fighting skills are because with that height and body I don’t think anyone would want to mess with him. 3. Harbhajan Singh – Punjabi Rapper: Bhaji has proven how strong he is as a bowler to the entire world. But had this Jalandhar kakuda thought of rapping in Punjabi, the music scene would’ve been so different. Harbhajan has so much swag on the field; imagine him showing it off on records and music videos. A little bit of bhangra and the Marilyn Manson tongue and we can set the Indian music scene on fire. 4. Stuart Broad – Underwear Model: Yes, I have a crush on him and no I don’t care about the fact that Yuvraj Singh literally kicked his ass during the T20 World Cup in 2007. Stuart Broad is still a really good bowler, but he’d make a great spokesperson for Calvin Klein or Armani briefs. He’s got a killer body, dreamy blue eyes and the perfect face cut. Any modeling agency would be more than happy to sign him. 5. Virat Kohli – Bollywood star: He is currently the captain of the Indian Test team and holds the title of the fastest batsman in the world to hit 1000 runs in T20Is. Virat Kohli is one of the most fashionable cricketers that I know off and clearly he knows that too because his clothing brand is quite impressive. He is a youth icon and is popular as it is, but had he decided to become an actor, he would’ve gone a long way. He has the persona and the attitude of a Bollywood star and he’s not bad in the looks department. But it would be funny imagining him dance to Darde-Disco. 6. Lasith Malinga – Hair Stylist: This might sound ironic but Malinga’s hair has grabbed as much attention as his bowling style. His understanding of trends might be out of the world but maintaining that hair is a real task and that’s what showcases his talent. He would be a trendsetter in the industry and would definitely get hired by people like Miley Cyrus who like to look quirky. 7. Sachin Tendulkar – Holiday Planner: (Photo Source: Twitter) He is the God of cricket. That is enough to introduce him as a cricketer but what would’ve happened had he taken a different career path? I see him as an excellent holiday planner because his pictures on social media are enough to understand what a great time his family has on their trips. The tourism industry would boom! As a travel junkie I would love to go on a trip planned by him. The Rajya Sabha can actually hand him the job of finding luxurious tourist spots. 8. Graeme Smith – Hollywood A-Lister: Mr. Graeme Craig Smith. You are a very good-looking man and have a really charming smile. Yes we know you were the captain the South African cricket team and we know how talented you were as a batsman but do you understand how many hearts you would’ve melted had you made it in Hollywood? He is a casting director’s dream as he could fit into the role of a classy businessman or a sophisticated government agent. Graeme Smith as Bond would be interesting, wouldn’t it? 9. Lance Klusner – Firefighter: This former South African cricketer is known for his aggressive batting and his fast-medium swing bowling. He was one of the world’s best all-rounders but what would he have done if cricket hadn’t happened? The Zulu had a fearless attitude in the game and that is a quality a great firefighter needs to have. He is physically strong and can easily take down doors and save lives for a living and his hot body could be an added bonus perhaps? 10. Suresh Raina – Singer: Suresh Raina is an excellent batsman no doubt but did you know that this guy could actually sing? No it’s not like bathroom singing but actual singing.
