10 Current cricketers who can retire from one format
There are several cricketers in the modern era who have been unable to excel in all three formats of the game.
8. Kraigg Brathwaite (ODIs)
Kraigg Brathwaite was recently appointed as the captain of the West Indian side in Test cricket. The right-hander has already played 68 Test matches for the West Indian outfit and has amassed over 4000 runs at an average of 33.44. He even scored a century against Sri Lanka in March 2021.
While Brathwaite still has a long career ahead of him in the whites, his ODI career is as good as over. The right-hander has played just 10 ODIs in his career and has scored 278 runs. The 28-year-old last featured in an ODI match for the West Indies more than 4 years ago, in March 2017.
As for T20I cricket, Brathwaite has not even played a single T20I for West Indies. And, it is highly unlikely that he will once again get a chance to wear the Maroon jersey for his country in ODI cricket. Brathwaite would be better off announcing his ODI retirement and becoming a Test specialist for the West Indian side.
