10 Father-Son duos to make Hundreds in Test matches: There is nothing better for a father to see his son(s) to follow in his footsteps and play international cricket for their respective countries. There have been many great cricketing families, the Pataudi, the Marsh, the Amarnath to play cricket and leave their mark on the game in one form or another. Here are 10 such Father-Son duos to score centuries in Test cricket: 10. Hanif Mohammad and Shoaib Mohammad (Pakistan) The great Pakistani legend Hanif Mohammad scored 12 centuries in all in Test arena. His son Shoaib Mohammad was an opener and played for Pakistan in the 1980s. He also scored 2 double centuries in his 7 Test centuries. He scored 203 not out twice against India in 1989-90 and against New Zealand in 1990. So far they are the only Father-son duo to score double hundreds in Test history. 9. Though he later captained India, he did not make any 100s for India. His son Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi though made 6 centuries for India, along with being the youngest Indian Test captain. Both of his sons Shaun and Mitchell have played for Australia in Tests and ODIs. But Shaun went one better and scored 141 vs. Sri Lanka on his debut in 2011. 6. He scored one century, 116 against England in 1946. 3 sons of Walter Hadlee played Tests for New Zealand. But only Richard Hadlee made century in Test cricket. He scored 2 centuries in Test along with a 99 and a highest score of 151 not out vs. Sri Lanka in 1986. But he did take 431 wickets in Test matches though. 5. Father Ken Rutherford had a lean start in Tests, a pair on debut and just 12 runs in 7 Tests against West Indies in 1984-85, but he went on to score 3 centuries for the Kiwis. He also captained the Kiwi team for 18 of his 56 Test matches. His son Hamish did better, he scored a century on debut, 171 against England in 2012-13, but since has been able to score just 50 runs in his next 24 innings. 4. He opened the batting and scored 124 not out runs and carried his bat through the innings. His son Mohammad Nazar scored 10 hundreds in 70 Tests for Pakistan, his most famous centuries came against India. He scored 6 centuries including a double hundred and a 199 against India. His first century against England in 177-78 was a snooze fest. He scored his ton in 557 minutes, a record for slowest century ever. 3. Vijay Manjrekar and Sanjay Manjrekar (India) Vijay Manjrekar. He is considered as one the first batting stars for India. He scored 7 hundreds in 55 Tests including a 189 not out against England in 1961-62 and a 109 vs. New Zealand in what was his last Test in 1964-65. His son Sanjay Manjrekar should have played more than 37 Tests he played for India. But he still managed to score 4 centuries including a career best 218 vs. Pakistan in Pakistan in 1989. 2. He was one of the 4 medium pace bowlers in the New Zealand team, who used to dry up runs in the middle overs by bowling a tight line and length. He scored only one century in his 4 Tests. He scored 119 against Zimbabwe in 1992-93. His son Tom recently scored 2 back to back centuries in 103 and 137 against Pakistan in Dubai. He scored his century on debut against England in 1933-34 in Bombay. Amarnath also produced 2 sons who made Test centuries. Surinder Amarnath emulated his father’s feat of a debut Test century. He made his ton against New Zealand in 1975-76. Though he could not make another ton in test matches again, his brother Mohinder Amarnath made the family proud by making 11 centuries in his Test career.
