10 Missing stars in the World T20 2016

Cricket is a sport which has mulitple course of actions. The actions and directions never flow in one direction. It’s always up and down. Injuries and bad forms are one of the many reasons that push the individual backward in chasing their dream and achieving what they should have. Though cricket is a team game, the team always looks for a collective individual effor from the players. All the participating teams have picked the best squads but there are a few heavyweights, who missed the sixth edition of the ICC World T20 in India. Here we list the missing stars in the World T20 2016. 1. Shaun Marsh (Australia): Shaun Marsh. (© Getty Images) Having tried 25 players in their six T20 internationals in 2016, the Aussie selectors Rod Marsh & co doesn’t feel, the skilful Marsh would fit in the current Australian set-up. Marsh has a rich experience in India and played nine seasons of IPL for one franchise. It will be interesting to see whether the decision to omit Marsh will affect Australia’s march towards the first World T20 crown. 2. Lendl Simmons (West Indies): Lendl Simmons. (Photo Source: Twitter) The West Indian was initially named in the squad, but the back injury forced Lendl Simmons out of the competition. The 31-year-old has a great experience in Indian conditions having featured in the IPL. Simmons was one of the key reasons for Mumbai Indians title winning campaign last year. He would have been an ideal partner for the destructive Chris Gayle at the top of the innings. 3. Kevin Pietersen (England): English batsman Kevin Pietersen. (Photo by EMMANUEL DUNAND/AFP/Getty Images) Whenever there are big events like a World Cup or the Ashes, the sounds of Kevin Pietersen’s name in the England set-up will reminiscent. Every time, the fortunes are really against the English batsmen before the big tournaments. If the selections were just based on the performance of the player, KP would have booked his ticket to India. To everybody’s surprise after having a great Big Bash in Australia by scoring 323 runs in 9 matches at an average of 40.37, the English board, again turned as a villain for him and ignored Pietersen. 4. Manish Pandey (India): Manish Pandey. (Photo Source: Getty Images) This man Manish Pandey is really unlucky after scoring a match winning hundred, in his last match against Australia in Sydney. The Indian batting unit currently wears a settled look in the format, but Pandey deserves to be atleast in the 15, but the selectors went with Ajinkiya Rahane over the in-form Manish Pandey. 5. Chris Lynn (Australia): Chris Lynn. (Photo by Will Russell – CA/Cricket Australia/Getty Images) Chris Lynn has been a brutal performer and the top scorer in the Big Bash season by scoring 378 runs at a strike rate of 173.38. But the 25-year-old has played just two matches against India after the great domestic season. Lynn’s lack of experience in India could have been the main reason for the omission, but it’s interesting to see, whether Australia miss an in-form player like Lynn during their campaign. 6. Kieron Pollard (West Indies): West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard. (Photo by Ishara S.KODIKARA/AFP/GettyImages) Pollard is one of the most dominant performers in this format. It’s difficult to find a multi dimensional player like Pollard who is very handy in all the three attributes. West Indies surely miss Pollard’s exceptional batting, electrifying fielding and some useful breakthroughs with his seam-ups. The same knee injury that ruled Pollard out of 2015 World Cup, has pushed him out of another mega-event. 7. Mitchell Starc (Australia): Mitchell Starc. (© Getty Images) The ankle surgery last year, is still keeping the vicious paceman Mitchell Starc out of the squad. This man would have been an X-factor for the Aussies, who are scuffling with their inexperienced bowling unit. Starc is a huge miss in the tournament, as the 5-time ODI champions are chasing for that elusive World T20 crown. 8. Sunil Narine (West Indies): Sunil Narine. The variety and variation Narine possesses, makes even the best batsmen in the world tussle. This rare quality has turned contrary for the West Indian over the years, as he is repeatedly reported and banned for the suspected bowling actions. Given his experience in India, Narine would have been a perfect weapon for the West Indian side. 9. Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka): Lasith Malinga. (Photo Source: Twitter) The Sri Lankan spearhead Lasith Malinga is the best bowler in this format with 299 wickets. He has the ability to win matches single-handedly with his phenomenal bowling at the death overs. The ability to bowl yorkers at will is surely something the defending champions will miss. The knee injury that has been hampering him for years has kept him out of action in the World T20 2016. 10. Morne Morkel (South Africa): Morne Morkel. (Photo Source: Getty Images) The experienced Morne Morkel has been an untouched force for South Africa in all three formats over the years. But the likes of young Kagiso Rabada and Kyle Abbott performing at the steady pace brought the Proteas in a position where they had to make a decision against the tall fast bowler.
