10 things you would like to know about the Virat-Anushka love story

Two of the most renowned young personalities in India, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma got married yesterday in Tuscany, Italy in a grand ceremony in the presence of their families and close friends. The internet is absolutely buzzing with the talks of the couple since the news of their marriage broke out. Here are the 10 things you would like to know about their love story:

1. Childhood friends

Contrary to the popular belief that Virat and Anushka had their first interaction while shooting an ad film for a shampoo brand, they actually know each from their childhood days and it has been revealed by none other than Anushka’s grandmother Urmila herself who in a report said that her granddaughter and Virat used to play cricket together as kids and the Indian captain was actually Anushka’s childhood crush.

2. Shah Rukh Khan hinted towards the affair

While the rumours of Virat-Anushka relationship had been viral, none of the two was ready to entertain the reports and always refused to speak anything on the matter. However, it was King Khan who, for the first time, hinted that there was indeed some proximity between the couple as he held a fake Swayamvar for Virat during the opening ceremony of the IPL 2014.

There were 8 pictures of the brides out of which Virat had to choose one and the one he chose turned out to be Anushka. The smirk on Shah Rukh’s face suggested that all the pictures were of Anushka and the whole thing was just to take the mickey out of Virat who clearly looked embarrassed at the end of it all.

3. First public appearance

After keeping their relationship low key and out of the public view for about a year or so, Virat and Anushka were finally seen together in 2014 during a Football game between FC Goa and FC Pune City in the first season of the Indian Super League.

Virat is the owner of FC Goa and the couple was out there in the stands to cheer for their own team. It was after this game that Virat admitted to the relationship too and urged people to respect their privacy.

“If you are seen together somewhere and still people ask if it’s confirmed, then it is a matter of common sense. We will not personally like to speak about it because it is something very personal for us and that should be respected by the media and everyone else as well.” Virat was quoted saying.
