10 things you would like to know about the Virat-Anushka love story

Two of the most renowned young personalities in India, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma got married yesterday in Tuscany, Italy in a grand ceremony in the presence of their families and close friends. The internet is absolutely buzzing with the talks of the couple since the news of their marriage broke out. Here are the 10 things you would like to know about their love story: 1. Childhood friends Contrary to the popular belief that Virat and Anushka had their first interaction while shooting an ad film for a shampoo brand, they actually know each from their childhood days and it has been revealed by none other than Anushka’s grandmother Urmila herself who in a report said that her granddaughter and Virat used to play cricket together as kids and the Indian captain was actually Anushka’s childhood crush. 2. Shah Rukh Khan hinted towards the affair While the rumours of Virat-Anushka relationship had been viral, none of the two was ready to entertain the reports and always refused to speak anything on the matter. However, it was King Khan who, for the first time, hinted that there was indeed some proximity between the couple as he held a fake Swayamvar for Virat during the opening ceremony of the IPL 2014. There were 8 pictures of the brides out of which Virat had to choose one and the one he chose turned out to be Anushka. The smirk on Shah Rukh’s face suggested that all the pictures were of Anushka and the whole thing was just to take the mickey out of Virat who clearly looked embarrassed at the end of it all. 3. First public appearance (Photo Source: Twitter) After keeping their relationship low key and out of the public view for about a year or so, Virat and Anushka were finally seen together in 2014 during a Football game between FC Goa and FC Pune City in the first season of the Indian Super League. Virat is the owner of FC Goa and the couple was out there in the stands to cheer for their own team. It was after this game that Virat admitted to the relationship too and urged people to respect their privacy. “If you are seen together somewhere and still people ask if it’s confirmed, then it is a matter of common sense. We will not personally like to speak about it because it is something very personal for us and that should be respected by the media and everyone else as well.” Virat was quoted saying. 4. Anushka, for some reason, was held responsible for the failure in the semi-final and subsequently India’s loss. The ‘Rab ne bana di Jodi’ fame actress was trolled brutally on social media with some people accusing her of taking Virat’s focus away from the game. 5. Relationship on the verge of break-up The couple saw some real lows in the relationship too as at one point in time, they were on the verge of breaking up or had almost broken up. Or at least it was speculated so. They had unfollowed each other on social networking sites and Virat was believed to have told his close friends that he was back to being single. While the exact reason of the rift is unknown, a report in Punjab Kesari claimed that the fact that Anushka’s movie Bombay Velvet couldn’t do well on the Box office triggered the fight between the duo as Virat had invested 40 cr. rupees in that movie. They had a heated argument over that which hurt Anushka and she decided to end her relationship with the Delhi batsman. 6. Salman Khan initiated the patch-up The relationship was back on track soon though as the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who was working with Anushka around that time in the movie Sultan, took it upon himself to sort the differences of the couple. He reportedly invited them both to his house for dinner and got them talking to each other which eventually led to the patch-up and the Virushka fans couldn’t stop thanking Dabangg Khan for that. 7. Virat slams people for trolling Anushka Virat stood up for his lady love and slammed her detractors on social media by saying that whoever trolled his girlfriend for his failures on the field have no right to call themselves educated as they don’t have the common sense to understand whatever he does with his cricket has nothing to do with Anushka. If anything Anushka has done, she has only improved her thought process and has helped him play the game with more positivity. Humey toh aapne dekha hai, akal thi nahi kuch life mein, but jabse the lady has come into my life, she has taught me a lot of things aur kaafi akal aa gayi hai ab, all because of her.” Virat said in a jolly mood with a sheepish smile when Gaurav told him that he has changed as a person over the years. 9. Anushka’s romantic warning to Virat There might be a few girlfriends out there who don’t like their boyfriends growing beards, but Anushka is not one of them for sure.
