Travis Head is one of the brightest talents in Australia. The brutal left-hander made waves in the Australia’s domestic circuit with his spectacular batting performances for South Australia across all formats. The 22-year old plays with an aggressive instinct and is a clean hitter of the ball no matter what form of the game he is playing. Apart from being emerging as an extremely talented batsman, Head is also hailed as a future leader after having led his state-side with positive results.

1. Born on:

Travis Michael Head was born on December 29, 1993, in Adelaide.

2. The start:

Travis Head began his career playing underage level cricket for the Craigmore Cricket Club in his  hometown, Adelaide.

3. Age group level:

Head has represented South Australia cricket team at various age group level, playing for them in the under-17 and under-19 level.

4. A prolific under-19 cricketer:

Head made his debut in the National Under-19 Championships at the age of 17. He went on to play 18 under-19 One Day International (ODI) matches for the Australian national team. The hard-hitting left-hander then represented Australia in the at the 2012 ICC Under-19 World Cup.

5. Enters the First Class cricket:

Head made his Sheffield Shield debut for South Australia at the age of 18 in the 2011-12 season.

6. A future leader:

Travis Head captained South Australia to the Under-19 National Championship title in 2012-13 and was named Player of the Championship.

7. The youngest skipper in South Australia’s history:

In February 2015, Head was named captain of the Redbacks at the age of 21, becoming the state’s youngest captain of all time.

8. Adds reputation to his leadership skills:

in 2015-16, Head skippered South Australia with great maturity, steering them to their first Sheffield Shield final in 20 years.

9. BBL success:

Travis Head continued to flourish as one of the promising batsmen in Australia after he smashed 299 runs at an average of 42.21 at a wonderful strike rate of 154.92 playing for the Adelaide Strikers.

 10. A night full of fireworks:

On 31 December 2015, during a Big Bash League, Head led the Strikers to a memorable victory against the Sydney Sixers scoring 7 sixes and 2 fours in the final three overs, ending up scoring 101 in 53 balls.

11. International Debut:

Travis Head, riding on the back of his BBL exploits, earned his first call-up to Australia’s squad at the age of 22 for the T20I series against India in January 2016.

12. Enters IPL :

In 2016, Travis Head was bought by Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 30 lakhs at the players auction.
