- Abhishek Mohan Nayar was born on 8th October 1983 in Secunderabad. His parents, however, originally belonged to Kerala and had migrated to Secunderabad.
Growing years:
- Abhishek Nayar grew up in Mumbai and started his cricketing career in the famous Shivaji Park, Mumbai.
Playing Style:
- He is a stylish left-handed middle order batsman and also a handy medium pacer. His batting is very distinctive, He has unique wide batting stance and stands with his legs wide open.
A valuable asset for Mumbai Ranji team:
- Abhishek Nayar was held as a promising player right from his early cricketing years in Mumbai circles. He has regularly featured in Mumbai playing XI since the year 2006 and is currently its vice-captain. He has regularly rescued his teams from tough situations and has been a vital contributor for them. In the 2012/2013 Ranji Trophy, he was the second highest of the season and scored 966 runs for Mumbai.

- Abhishek Nayar holds a record in ODIs which he would be not very proud of. Abhishek Nayar holds the record of bowling the longest over in a 50 over match. In a match against South Zone in the inter-zone Deodhar trophy. Abhishek Nayar bowled 10 wides and a no ball in the over. He shares this igonimy with Mohammed Sami.
Memorable first class century:
- In the fruitful Ranji campaign with Mumbai in the year 2006, he narrowly missed the opportunity to score his maiden first-class century against Gujarat. But, he had to not wait long for his big one. In the same year, he smacked a breezy 152 against Karachi Urban in the Mohd. Nissar Trophy.
International Debut:
- Nayar was selected in the ODI squad for the West Indies tour. Abhishek Nayar made his debut in the same series and played three matches overall.

- Abhishek Nayar won the Lala Amarnath Award, given to the best all-rounder of India’s domestic season for his outstanding performance in the 2012-2013 Ranji Trophy.

- Abhishek Nayar has played for several teams in the Indian Premier League. Abhishek Nayar was initially bought by Mumbai franchise in the inaugural season. Later, he was played for Kings XI Punjab and switched to Pune Warriors afterwards. Abhishek Nayar currently plays for Rajasthan Royals.
