3 Major records Sourav Ganguly could not break in his international career
Ganguly played for India from 1992 to 2008, appearing in 113 Test matches and 311 ODIs.
2) 10,000 runs in Tests
Ganguly was one of the most prolific run-getters and a reliable batter for the Indian team. He scored over 11,000 runs in the ODIs with 22 hundreds and 72 fifties, averaging close to 40 away from home and over 44 in India.
He announced his arrival in Test cricket in June 1996, in the grandest of manners, scoring a century at Lord’s against Michael Atherton’s England. He was one of the integral members of Team India across the two formats ever since, and also became the captain about four years later.
Ganguly finished with 7,212 runs in Tests in 188 innings at an average of 42.17 with 22 hundreds and 35 fifties, and a top score of 239. He averaged over 54 in 2008, and still had a lot of cricket left in him. But he chose to retire in November and denied himself a chance to complete the double of scoring 10,000 runs in both ODIs and Tests.
