3. Rishabh Pant

The young wicketkeeper-batter is one of the hottest properties going around in world cricket all thanks to his stellar performances in recent times. Pant has been delivering consistently as many potent bowlers have become victims of his prowess. In fact, Pant was instrumental in India’s Test series win against Australia and England earlier this year.

With Pant becoming a regular in the playing XI, the team management might give him the leadership role. Notably, the southpaw (23) is way younger than Rahul (29) and Rohit (34). Hence, investing in the prodigy might prove to be fruitful for the team management. Many even have been backing Pant to become Kohli’s successor.

Hence, giving him the vice-captain slot certainly makes a lot of sense. It has to be noted that Pant has led Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Hence, he’s not entirely alien with the drill.  Nevertheless, being the vice-captain of the national team is a different challenge. Hence, it would be interesting to see if the team management shows faith in him.
