3 reasons why the India are justified in playing Ravindra Jadeja ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal
Jadeja is one of the key players for India, heading into the World Cup.
Jadeja can come up with some valuable contributions down the order
Needless to say, it’s is a difficult choice to make between Jadeja’s bowling and Chahal’s but one thing everyone can unanimously agree on is the fact that Jadeja can be trusted to make those valuable contributions down the order and definitely not Chahal. Back in 2014 Jadeja single-handedly drew the game for India against New Zealand when they were in the pursuit of the 314 runs target set by the Kiwis.
His 66 of 45 helped India draw the match in a spectacular fashion and his knock was just a testimony to what Jadeja can do with the bat on his day. Chahal is a tailender and Jadeja is a proper middle-order batsman who can also prove to be a hard-hitter towards the fag-end of the innings.
In 100 innings, the 30-year-old has amassed 2,035 runs at an average and strike rate of 30.37 and 84.33 respectively, and these are the stats that one would expect from a proper lower middle-order batsman. Jadeja can chip in with those extra 25-30 runs every now and then and it could definitely prove to a be result decider. Mind you, Jadeja can win games with the bat.
