3 Records MS Dhoni couldn't break in international cricket
MS Dhoni retired from the international cricket on August 15, 2020.
Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is considered one of the most successful captains in Indian cricket history. Under the leadership of Dhoni, the Men in Blue won the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Not only his leadership skills, Dhoni was also one of the most consistent performers with the bat during his playing days and has broken several records in the international arena.
However, there are a few records that were left from Dhoni’s grasp before the wicketkeeper-batter decided to retire from international cricket in August 2020. In this article, we will talk about three records that MS Dhoni could not break in the international arena. Let us begin:
3. Most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in ODI
Dhoni is known to have the safest pair of hands behind the wickets. During his international career, Dhoni inflicted several quick stumpings and grabbed some excellent catches behind the wicket. In ODI cricket, Dhoni finished with 444 dismissals in 345 innings.
Dhoni comes third in the list of most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in ODI cricket behind two other veteran players including Adam Gilchrist who has 472 dismissals and Kumar Sangakkara with 482 dismissals. In his 444 dismissals, Dhoni took 321 catches and inflicted 123 stumpings.
Even after retirement, Dhoni’s agility and flexibility have remained the same as can be seen during the Indian Premier League (IPL) when the veteran player is keeping the wickets for his franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
