Rohit Sharma is known for rising to the big occasions and his performances during the 2019 World Cup was a prime example. Rohit rescued Mumbai in the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy final against Uttar Pradesh which took place in Hyderabad. He scored 141 in the first innings as Mumbai recovered from 55/4 to reach 402/10. Sharma smashed a quick 108 in the 2nd essay to extend their lead to 524 runs.

His twin centuries in the final helped Mumbai  claim the title with a 243-run victory. Rohit Sharma thus became only the 6th player to score hundreds in both innings of a Ranji Trophy final and is the only player to do so across the last 25 seasons. Sachin Tendulkar was the last player before Rohit to achieve this feat as he smashed 140 and 139 respectively during the 1994-95 final against Punjab.

Tendulkar scored both the tons at a strike rate of over 100 as he brought up his hundreds in 83 and 66 balls respectively. Bombay (now Mumbai) won the title on basis of the 318-run first-innings lead. Interestingly, during 2008-09 final, Sachin was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a duck which was his lone duck in an Indian domestic first-class match.

Syed Mushtaq Ali in 1944-45 (109 & 130 for Holkar vs Bombay), Vijay Hazare in 1949-50 (130 & 101 for Baroda vs Holkar), Hanumant Singh in 1966-67 (109 & 213* for Rajasthan vs Bombay) and Surinder Khanna in 1978-79 (111 & 128 for Delhi vs Karnataka) are the other four players to score twin centuries in a Ranji Trophy final.
