For one of the last times ever on a cricket field, Sachin took on the bowlers as he used to in the early parts of his career. It was the third last time we would see him batting in the IPL, and certainly, the last time unleashing himself on the IPL stage.

Sachin smashed eight fours in this short but mightily effective burst. But what is most memorable from this match is the thrashing Ryan McLaren received at the hands of the maestro. Sachin took on the South African to the cleaners in the fourth over of the innings, hitting him for five consecutive fours.

With Dwayne Smith by his company at the other end, Sachin blasted off and made the hard-hitting West Indian look rather snail-paced in comparison. The innings and the resulting win proved crucial for Mumbai Indians to qualify for the playoffs. Mumbai eventually won the title this time, thus fulfilling the last cherished dream of the great man.
