He has always been passionate about the game but at the same time he tends to get temperamental about it. This created a perception of him being an over the top celebrator and build him the image of an angry young man.

He was involved in several other altercations, controversies, he also made unacceptable gestures to the crowd during his maiden tour of Australia and the spiced-up and public affair with his girlfriend Anushka Sharma have brought him in news for all wrong reasons. When, someone has been a part of so many controversies at such a young age, making Kohli the captain can lead either way in a two way street. With team India already at the rock bottom in tests, it has been a free hit for the selectors to hand him over the reins.
