West Indies Cricket team travelled to New Zealand for playing four-match Test series. The visitors announced a strong squad on their important outing with the likes of Michael Holding, Colin Croft, Collis King and Joel Garner. The series opener was played at Dunedin and the spectators might have expected to get an enthralling encounter but that never happened.

Instead of that, they got to watch one of the biggest controversies in the history of West Indies cricket. In the series opener, the West Indies bowler never looked happy with the standards of umpiring. Things went beyond their head due to which they lost their cool on the field.

During the match, there was an instance when Michael Holding kicked the stumps whereas Colin Croft banged into the umpire during his delivery tread. This all gave birth to one of the biggest controversies that rocked the cricket world with a bang.
