The Kochi Tuskers Kerala team already marked its presence in the 2011 season of IPL. However, Parthiv Patel led team finished in 8th position that year. The state is not known well enough for providing players with Indian cricket in this era. Sanju Samson can be called out as a recognized player from the state has been in the dearth of opportunities for youngsters.

Jagmohan Dalmiya was the president of BCCI when a talent scout programme was held to find the local talents in India. MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Irfan Pathan were the picks of that event only, and it is imperative that the same sort of programme should be held in Kerala.

Voluntary programmes from the IPL governing council might be needed to search for local talents in the state of Kerala. By having an IPL franchise of own, it would be an initiative in the right direction to develop cricketing talent from the state in times to come. It’s high time that a group is needed from the state to invest in this sector.
