Most men and women have definitely thought about joining Indian film industry or cricket team at least once in their teens. However, it is easier said than done. To be honest, out of million dreams, only a handful of them are accomplished, especially in the context of cricket and Bollywood. Cricket is a game where you don’t get a single chance for a re-take. Once a bowl is bowled, it’s done. Similarly, once you play a shot with the bat, the rest is unpredictable. Contrarily, you can get the facility of multiple retakes on the small screen as well as silver screen, but again it is a different side of the pitch. TRP and Box office collection is all that matters. Many cricketers have jumped into this profession in the past, but very few of them succeed in maintaining success in both the roles. Though, he announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 28, but he has been successful on the silver screen. He did a number of popular TV shows and acted in several films as well. In an informal chat with a writer a few days back, former cricketer explained that anyone can become whatever he wants if the will is there and is backed up by hard work and dedication in the right direction. 2. Sunil Gavaskar, the little master, was the first to hit 34 test tons and score more than 10,000 runs in test cricket. He is still counted amongst the all time greatest cricketers. But only a very few people know about his acting skill. Yes, he played a key role in Savli Premachi, a Marathi movie released in 1980. 3. Navjot Singh Siddhu: Navjot Singh Sidhu. He is not someone who would sit quiet post retirement. The former opener is a famous TV personality these days. He is a part of the popular TV show Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors channel. Siddhu has also participated in the reality show Big Boss 6 in 2012. 4. Vinod Kambli: (Source) I bet many of you are unaware about the acting talent of this ex-cricketer. The former left handed batsman acted in the movie ‘Annarth’ alongside Sunil Shetty and Sanjay Dutt. The film was released in 2002 and Kambli’s performance was well appreciated. 5. Ajay Jadeja: Ajay Jadeja. (Photo Source: Reuters) Once a prolific batsman and fielder in the late 90s, especially in One-Dayers, Ajay Jadeja has played meaty roles in several movies including Khel, Pal Pal Dil Ke Ssaat and others. He also participated in Jhalakh Dikhlaja (Session1) – a dance reality show in 2006. However, Jadeja is more popular as a cricket expert on news channels these days. Glamour quotient might be present in both Cricket and acting, but these two action-packed careers are completely opposite to each other. Cricketers may find it easier to join silver screen because of their popularity but performing well on this side of the pitch is very-very difficult.
