5 Current Indian players who may retire from limited-overs cricket
These players are unlikely to make their comeback in the limited-overs formats.
3. Ishant Sharma (32 years)
The Delhi-based speedster has mastered his craft over the years. The Test cricket mainstay is known for bowling long spells and grabbing the wickets with sheer pace and swing. Adding muscle and teeth to the Indian bowling line-up, the lanky superstar broke into the national side in 2007 against Bangladesh.
The 32-year-old bowled a career-best spell against England at Lord’s in 2014. Toppling the powering English batting line-up to the core, Ishant plucked 7 wickets at the expense of 74 runs only to help the team cross the winning mark. Eventually, he became a prime contender and leads the bowling attack against the best batting unit in the world.
However, he lost his berth in the ODIs and T20Is owing to various reasons; nobody can snatch his position in the Test team. Therefore, Ishant may retire from white-ball cricket in the upcoming days. Currently, he is recuperating from a serious injury which he sustained playing for Delhi Capitals in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League.
