5 Current Indian players whose limited-overs career is over
Amid the competition of getting into the national side, there are many existing players too who have now become a liability for the Indian side.
3. Parthiv Patel
Another stalwart whose association with Team India dates back to 2002 is Parthiv Patel. A young Parthiv Patel hogged the headlines after donning the Test jersey in 2002 and ODI jersey in 2003. However, with the passage of time, the wicketkeeper’s spot was eventually acquired by MS Dhoni and since then, Parthiv Patel’s inclusion in the national side has been a concern for him.
Despite giving consistent performances at the domestic level, the 35-year-old has failed to cement his spot in the Indian team. And considering the age factor, Parthiv Patel’s limited-overs career with the national side is almost over. Moreover, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, and KL Rahul have also burst out to the scene for donning the gloves for India.
Parthiv Patel will be plying his trade for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020. However, his impressive performance in the cash-rich league won’t guarantee him a spot in the national side. His last ODI game for India came in 2012 against Sri Lanka and since then, he has been sidelined from the side. In 38 ODIs, he has managed to amass 736 runs including four half-centuries.
