5 Current Pakistan players who might earn top bids in IPL Auction if given a chance

2008 – the last time Pakistan cricketers took part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and IPL Auction. It’s been over 11 years since a Pakistan player took part in the cash-rich T20 league. However, given the emergence of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and with their players taking part in various other T20 leagues, the country has managed to develop a fine crop of T20 cricket. It would be a delight to watch players from Pakistan share a dressing room with the Indian cricketers and play together once again. However, with the political scenarios as they are between the two countries, this doesn’t seem to be a possibility any time soon. Yet, if given a chance in the IPL, Pakistan cricketers could be highly successful and they might also shell in some huge bucks at the IPL auction. Here are five Pakistan players who can be the stars in IPL auction: 1. Babar Azam Babar Azam. (Photo Source: Twitter) You don’t need a second introduction to the kind of talent that Babar Azam is. At just 24, he has already scaled several peaks and is a star in T20 cricket. He might not be one of those biggest hitters of the cricket ball. But the brand of cricket he plays might remind you of someone like Virat Kohli may be a few years ago. Babar Azam plays the fields well and often doesn’t fancy too many risky shots. He is someone who likes to keep the ball on the ground but is definitely willing to take those occasional risks. For an IPL franchise that is looking for a solid, reliable opener, Babar Azam can be the perfect solution. He is someone who holds up one end tight which in turn gives the freedom and confidence for the batsman at the other end to hit some big shots. The Number 1 T20I batsman scores his runs at a fair clip. But the only limitation is that he has to open the innings or bat at number three at the most. 2. Imad Wasim Imad Wasim. (Photo by Francois Nel/Getty Images) Imad Wasim is an excellent bowling option in the shortest format of the game. He always tries to be one step ahead of the batsman and is street smart. The slow left-arm spinner can bowl at any stage of the innings. While he doesn’t have too many variations like some of the other bowlers, Imad varies his pace cleverly outfoxing the batsman. In the 156 T20 games he has played thus far, Imad has picked up 141 wickets. What stands out though is his economy rate of 6.29 given that he has operated almost at every stage of the innings. In addition to his bowling capability, Imad Wasim is a big hitter with the bat as well. You can send him out at any position and he often guarantees you some quick runs. For sides like the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) or the Rajasthan Royals (RR), he could be a great package. 3. Shadab Khan Shadab Khan. Still in the early stages of his career, he has made quite a name for himself already and is a hot property in leagues all across the globe. Shadab Khan is not just economical but is also a wicket-taker. He is someone who can win you games of cricket on his own and is somewhat similar to Afghan spinner Rashid Khan. The leggie delivers the ball at a quick pace and is tough to pick as he spins the ball both the ways equally well. His googly is often tough to pick and only a few batsmen have been able to deal him with full confidence. Furthermore, he is a decent lower-order batsman which is another incentive. A side like the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) would be overwhelmed to have him as well as Rashid in the playing eleven. However, many other teams might also go hard after him if he is in the IPL auction. 4. Shoaib Malik Shoaib Malik. (Photo by Nathan Stirk/Getty Images) Forget just Pakistan! Shoaib Malik is one of the most experienced T20 players all across the globe at the moment. He has played a mindboggling 357 T20 games thus far in his career. Maintaining an average of over 37 with the bat all through this while is not a joke at all. Malik scored over 9000 runs in the format and even has got over 140 wickets. He is one of the eleven Pakistan players who has played in the first edition of the IPL and is still going strong. Any IPL team would like to have him on board given the all-round package that he is. Furthermore, he is also a good captaincy material. His inputs and leadership abilities would be invaluable to any side. Shoaib Malik, given the calm character that he is, can be a great asset in the middle order of any line-up. He rotates the strike with utmost ease and doesn’t have many troubles accelerating either and he makes it all look so easy. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might not mind adding him to their dad’s army. 5. Mohammad Amir Mohammad Amir. With the kind of batting heroics that are on display in recent times, this art is that much more valued in the current times. The ability to execute and nail the variations under high pressure is sought-after in the shortest format. For the same, Mohammad Amir could be an excellent option. Even after playing 133 T20s and picking 160 wickets, his economy is just 6.81. For someone who bowls with the field up during the powerplay and then comes back to bowl the final overs, this is just tremendous. With the new ball, he usually creates angles that are difficult to counter as he can swing the ball both ways. Moreover, since he is a left-arm quick at great pace, he will surely be hot property if given a chance in the IPL. As we know, the left-arm pacer is good at death and is calm under pressure.
