In 160 Test matches, he has picked up 614 wickets. Only a few batsmen have been able to counter his swinging deliveries. Even after a long career, he still demolishes batting lineups. If we make a list of the greatest bowlers in the history of the sport, he will make it to the top 10. 
However, Jimmy had opted not to participate in the shortest format of the game. The last T20I match he played was in 2009. In 19 T20I matches, he has picked 18 wickets. The most interesting fact about Jimmy is his economy rate was decent even in a format like T20. In T20Is, Jimmy had an economy rate of 7.85 and the best bowling figures of 3/23. 
But, Jimmy has never participated in a tournament like IPL. Well, this is more of a personal choice as he focused on contributing in the longer formats of the game. If he had opted to participate in the IPL, he would have found many bidders at the auction. As Jimmy had played international T20I cricket way back in 2009, he didn&#8217;t play the IPL anytime.

Well, it is of no doubt that he is talented enough to get a contact. But, the franchises do not seem to have any deep interest in England’s premier batsman. But, his T20I numbers are quite decent. 
In 32 T20I matches, Root has scored 893 runs. And with a good strike rate of 126.31, he was a part of the English team that managed to reach the finals of the 2016 ICC T20 world cup. Apart from that, he has a stellar strike rate of 35.72. Do note that any batting average above 30 is a healthy average. And Root has performed almost every time Eoin Morgan needed someone to anchor the innings. 
Apart from batting, Root has bowled some off-spinners as well. Although he has a poor economy rate of 9.93, he can bowl in a couple of overs when required. Maybe, Root might get an IPL contract later on, but he has been unable to find any bidders. A top-class batsman like Root derives to be a part of a great tournament like IPL.
