1. Most runs in a Youth International series – Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan is known to excel at the major ODI tournaments as he was the top run-getter of the 2013 and 2017 Champions Trophy. He was India’s leading run-scorer during the 2015 World Cup and also during the 2014 and 2018 editions of the Asia Cup. However, Dhawan’s love with the ICC ODI events began in his teens only as he produced record-breaking performances in the 2004 Under-19 World Cup.
Shikhar Dhawan was named the player of that tournament where he amassed 505 runs across only seven matches with help of three hundreds and a fifty. The 505 runs by Dhawan are the most number of runs scored by a player in an edition of U19 CWC. His 505 runs in that tournament are also the most runs ever scored in a Youth ODI series/tournament.
In fact, no player other than Dhawan have managed to score as many as 500 runs in tournament/series in Youth Internationals. Dhawan, in this process, broke the record held by Australia’s Brett Williams with 471 runs during the 1988 U19 CWC. The most number of runs scored by any player in a Youth Test series are 467 runs by Marcus Trescothick during England’s 3-match home Test series against India in 1994.
