5 Diamond-like players Team India could've missed if there was no IPL
What would have happened if these players never represented India or took a long while to make their debut?
2. Ravindra Jadeja
Rockstar – the nickname given by the legendary Shane Warne to Ravindra Jadeja. The young cricketer, full of energy, seemed to be the solution for the ever-lasting all-rounder search for India. In his initial days, he was touted as a highly accurate bowler and an agile fielder.
While he wasn’t as consistent with the bat, Ravindra Jadeja surely was capable of smashing a ball or two out of the park. However, the Saurashtra cricketer found it hard to justify his all-rounder tag because of the inconsistency with the willow. He was in and out of the Indian team and didn’t get many chances on a consistent basis.
However, the IPL came to rescue and kept him in the reckoning just as it was in the case of Rohit Sharma. After his stint with the Royals, Jadeja was bought by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He got immense backing from MS Dhoni who was also India’s skipper back then. While he took a while to establish himself, he ensured that he developed his game well enough so that he could represent the team across all the three formats.
