Praveen Kumar was once considered as the next big thing in Indian Cricket. After making his ODI debut in 2007, he rose into stardom in the 2008 Commonwealth Bank Series against Australia and Sri Lanka in which he took 10 wickets. He was one of the main reasons why India won the tournament. His strength is to move the ball both the ways and make the opposition batsmen uncomfortable at the start of the innings. Praveen can use the long handle too in the lower order if required.

He was initially picked in India’s squad for the 2011 World Cup, but missed out the bus due to an elbow injury and was replaced by pacer Santhakumaran Sreesanth just a few days prior to the World Cup. Due to his lack of fitness and disciplinary issues he played his last ODI in March 2012. A promising career ended just after 5 years. He played 68 ODIs for India taking 77 wickets at an economy rate of 5.13. He also has a half-century under his name.
