In the history of Indian cricket, the 2001 Eden extravaganza holds a special place. Not only the game became the stepping stone of the country’s cricket it also produced some of the future stars. Though it is mostly remembered for the herculean efforts of VVS Laxman a rookie spinner also announced his arrival in that game. Yes, it is Harbhajan Singh who played a crucial role when Sourav Ganguly’s men outclassed the mighty Kangaroos.

From there on the off-spinner ruled the bowling charts for more than a decade. He was also part of the side when India won the 2007 T20 championship and the 2011 World Cup. Even now he is doing his every bit to support the game and appreciates every new talent in the roaster. Throughout his career, Harbhajan has always shown his warmth for his opponents and it includes some of the Pakistan cricketers. Among them, the one who inspired him in his playing days is Saqlain Mushtaq.

The Pakistan off-spinner is a skilful craftsman who awed the cricketing circle with his variations. It also caught the attention of a young Turbanator who learned the art of bowling “Doosra” by observing Mushtaq from close quarters. He has admitted that he has outfoxed many opposition batsmen by following Saqlain’s technique. From these words, it can be concluded that Harbhajan admires Pakistan great.
