Our fifth mention on the list is someone for whom the Indian Premier League should not be a platform to judge upon. Though Ruturaj Gaikwad was picked up by Chennai Super Kings, he did not get a single game. However, the 22-year-old has a fabulous domestic record and was hence selected for India A’s one-day series against Sri Lanka A. From what he has shown thus far, the national selectors must be patting themselves on the back for their immaculate decision.

In 3 matches, Gaikwad amassed 396 runs at an astonishing average of over 300. His unbeaten knock of 187 is a prime reason for that average. But Gaikwad’s record is a gift that keeps on giving, as his strike rate is at a phenomenal number of 137. The Pune-born right-handed batsman has not got much limelight until this tournament, and given his form, we can except the sale of blue jerseys with Gaikwad printed on the back in a few years’ time.
