Let’s go back to the year 2010. India was one of the most formidable Test sides playing at home. New Zealand was touring India for a 2-Test series.

The first match was played in Ahemdabad, on a decent batting wicket. Both the teams put up big first-innings totals, over 450. India had a slender lead of 28 runs and was needed to bat well to set a difficult target for New Zealand.

However, India got into huge trouble as they lost 6 wickets with just 65 runs on the board. New Zealand was well ahead in the match and it seemed that they will have a very small target to chase. Harbhajan then came to the crease in such a crisis. He strung a wonderful partnership with VVS Laxman and took the innings forward. Even after Laxman got out, he batted well and reached his century. Harbhajan’s innings of 115 runs were the highest among the Indian cricketers, which eventually saved the match for India.
