2. Sourav Ganguly
Known for transforming India to a side that could dominate any team anywhere in the world, Sourav Ganguly couldn’t weave the same magic in the Indian Premier League. Ganguly participated in IPL for five years from 2008 to 2012. He started his journey in the T20 Championship as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2008 edition.
KKR had finished at sixth place in the inaugural edition of the cash-rich league and as a result, Brendon McCullum was handed the responsibility of leading the side in 2009. However, the team ended up finishing last and Ganguly was re-appointed as captain for the next year.
But the move didn’t reap any good results and the former Indian captain’s stint with KKR ended in 2010 after which he embraced the now-defunct franchise Pune Warriors for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. In his short IPL career, Ganguly played 59 IPL matches scoring 1,349 runs at an average of 25.4 and strike rate of 106.8.
