The all-rounder Andrew Flintoff was considered nothing less than an enigma on the cricket field and enjoyed the status of a demigod in England throughout his cricket career. The former English captain boasts of having an average of 31+ in both One Day Internationals and the purest format of the game.

He also has 169 ODI and 226 Test wickets to his name in 141 and 79 fixtures respectively at an economy rate of 4.39 and 2.97. Andrew Flintoff was purchased by MS Dhoni led-Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a whopping amount of $1.55 million during the 2009 IPL auction. Apparently, Flintoff was one of the most expensive IPL players in the year 2009.

However, he couldn’t justify his hefty pay-cheque as he featured in just 3 games for the Super Kings and scored 62 runs at an average of 31 and strike rate of 117 along with scalping 2 wickets at a poor economy rate of 9.54. 2009 was the only year that saw the presence of England great in the Indian Premier League.
