5. Murali Vijay
The Tamil-Nadu based top-order batsman Murali Vijay has been the biggest upset for the CSK outfit. Vijay’s potential was immediately recognized as he was handed Test debut against Australia in the final Test at Nagpur.
Vijay with the bat showed a stoic opener’s technique against the then-World Champions. The flair batter scored 33 and 40, shielding the middle-order from the new ball and putting a price on his wicket. Of late in the cricketing carnival, Murali remained off-coloured managing to amass 32 runs in 3 matches closing his chances to make it to the playing XI after the poor rendition.
Making his case stronger for CSK to rethink their decision to retain the talented batsman, Murali must have played his last season for CSK.
