5 Players for whom IPL 2021 is important to seal a place in national team for T20 World Cup 2021
A decent campaign in the IPL might impress their respective national selectors as well going forward.
4. Kane Richardson
For a while now Kane Richardson has been a part of Australia’s white-ball setup and had extensively played the five-match T20I series in New Zealand. In terms of his performance, Richardson had a good outing especially considering his figures of scalping seven wickets at an economy of 8.76.
But with the arrival of the two pace spearheads (Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc) along with Josh Hazlewood who in Indian conditions might bank a lead, someone like Richardson will find it difficult to start in the playing XI. Further, Kane might also face some stiff competition from the upcoming rookies like Daniel Sams and Jhye Richardson. Hence, a blockbuster IPL season with RCB might pave a bigger way for Richardson.
For RCB, Richardson can be an excellent overseas starter, as the pacer has a fair share of variations to grab some success. Also, a healthy start in his initial games for RCB where he’s controlling the death overs along with picking some wickets at the top, Richardson might eventually then become the leader of the RCB’s bowling. All in all, the IPL 2021 is a massive event for Richardson to eventually grab the third seamer’s spot in Australia’s T20I squad.
